The Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) women's basketball team had an exciting and successful weekend, securing two consecutive wins during competition in Salt Lake City. These victories improved the Spartans' record to 3-6 on the season, showcasing their determination and progress under Head Coach Stephen Carter.
The Spartans kicked off their weekend with a thrilling 80-75 win over the All-Stars. Leading the charge was Makenzie Castille, who delivered an impressive double-double performance with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Castille's efficiency at the free-throw line, going 6-for-6, was critical in the close matchup.
Charity Posey was instrumental as well, recording 9 points and dishing out 7 assists, while Shyann Farbes contributed a solid 12 points and 7 rebounds. Cimonie Martinez caught fire from beyond the arc, hitting five three-pointers to finish with 15 points. The Spartans exhibited resilience and teamwork, pulling away in a strong second-half performance to clinch the victory.
CNCC carried their momentum into their second game against Central Wyoming College, claiming a 72-63 victory. Charity Posey once again led the Spartans, putting up a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds while adding 5 assists and 5 steals.
Makenzie Castille contributed 14 points and 8 rebounds, showcasing her consistency on both ends of the court. CNCC's defensive effort stood out, limiting Central Wyoming's top scorers and controlling the boards with 45 total rebounds.
Head Coach Stephen Carter praised his team's efforts, saying, "This weekend showed what our team is capable of when we play together and trust the system. I'm proud of the resilience the girls displayed and their ability to execute when it mattered most. These wins are a big confidence boost as we look forward to continuing this momentum."
