Colorado Northwestern Head Women's Basketball Coach Sherryl Klosterman proudly announces the addition of 11 student-athletes to the roster for 2018-19.
Two of our incoming players are Rio Blanco County stars, Katelyn Brown from Rangely HS and Reese Pertile from Meeker HS. "I hope for big and loud crowds for our home games" stated Coach Klosterman
The Spartans will add Matti Bannister, Katelyn Brown, Hope Bondurant, Avery Cox, Liz Freeland, Hanna Koza, Cortney Lemon, Gwyneth McCormack, Reese Pertile, Danielle Russo, and Avery Schumann.
"I am very excited to welcome this class of Spartans to Colorado Northwestern" said Klosterman, This class loaded with good students as well as good athletes who will be instrumental in building our culture and our program. All of these athletes are versatile players who can play multiple positions and fit our system and culture very well.
Matti Bannister - 5'10" G - Poudre HS - Ft. Collins, CO
"Matti is a versitle and smart shooting guard with a good amount of experience" said Klosterman. "She gives us length and athleticism on both ends of the court. She rebounds well from the perimeter." Matti earned All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-State honors as a senior this past season.
Hope Bondurant - 6'1" F - Cotopaxi HS - Cotopaxi, CO
"Hope brings us some size and athleticism in the post" remarked Klosterman. "She rebounds and runs the floor well."
Hope was an All-conference and Honorable Mention All-State player last season at Cotopaxi High School.
Katelyn Brown- 5'6" G - Rangely HS - Rangely, CO
"I am so excited that Katelyn chose to stay home for the start of her college basketball career!" said Klosterman. "She is a tremendous shooter with good range and is a great floor leader" Katelyn is a very accomplished player receiving All-Conference Honors all 4 years of high school ball as well as CHSAA, Colorado Preps & Mile High Preps First Team All-State this past season. Katelyn was also name a USA Junior Nationals High School All-American in 2015.
Avery Cox - 5'9" F - Lander Valley HS - Lander, WY
"Avery brings us a proven scorer and the ability to defend mutiple positions stated Klosterman. "She has good size and strength and fits well with our style of play."
Liz Freeland - 6'0" F - Brandeis HS - San Antonio, TX
"Liz brings us a physical and athletic presence inside" remarked Klosterman. "She is a good athlete who runs the floor well and has a tremendous upside."Liz prepped at Brandeis HS, a very successful and respected program in the San Antonio area.
Hanna Koza - 5'6" G - Windsor HS - Greeley, CO
"Hanna is an experienced saavy guard who sees the floor very well." commented Klosterman. "She is a tenacious defender and has the ability to score."Hanna was a tree year letter winner at Windsor HS. She was also a two year State Placer in track.
Cortney Lemon - 5'6" G - Norwood HS - Norwood, CO
"Cortney is a quick guard with a natural ability to score" said Klosterman. "She is a good shooter with good range and defends well." Cortney earned All-Conference honors twice and was a two time Conference player of the year. She also earned All-State Honorable Mention her senior year.
Gwyneth McCormack - 5'10" G/F - Cienega HS - Tucson, AZ
"Gwyneth is capable of playing multiple positions for us" remarked Klosterman."She can score and defend both on the perimeter and inside." She was an All-Region performer at Cienega HS in Tucson.
Reese Pertile - 5'11" F - Meeker HS - Meeker, CO
"I am very happy Reese chose to play college ball down the road with us in Rangely" stated Klosterman. "She is an athletic versatile and smart player.who fits well with our system of play." Reese earned All-Conferrence honors twice at Meeker HS and also CCGS All-State as a senior.
Danielle Russo - 5'10" G/F - Piedra Vista HS - Farmington, NM
"Dani is a talented and instinctive player with a tremendous amount of experience" said Klosterman. She is a versatile scorer and capable of defending multiple positions." While at Piedra Vista, Dani was a two time All-District performer, a three time All-District All-Academic player and recently played on the New Mexico All-Star team vs the Arizona All-Star Team.
Avery Schumann - 6'1" F - Northridge HS - Greeley, CO
"Avery has size and a physical presence inside, she is a tremendous rebounder" commented Klosterman. "She has the ability to score with her back to the basket and facing the basket." Avery is the career leader in rebounds at Northridge and was an All-Conference player her junior and senior seasons.
