Lady Spartans battle on the road, come up short against Eastern Wyoming CC

The 2021 season officially tipped off on Monday evening on the road (02/01) against the Lancers of Eastern Wyoming CC. This would mark the first game in a new coaching era, as Steve Gilbert would make his head coaching debut.

The first quarter saw fast paced action. CNCC's energy and high tempo playing style was able to cause the chaos Coach Gilbert was seeking. This energy would transfer into the second quarter as the Lady Spartans were able to go into half time with a 41-38 advantage.

Both teams would continue trading baskets throughout the 3^rd quarter, as a flurry of 3 point baskets and fast break layups would ensue for both teams. In the end, fatigue was a factor, with the Lady Spartans eventually falling to a final score of 94-79.

CNCC had all 11 players see court time and contribute. The Lady Spartans were led in this game by Kaley Woodruff (18 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds), Brandi Jordan (18 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists), and McKleigh Begaye (14 points, 2 steals). Kalee McEwan would lead CNCC in rebound with 8, with Erin Mauro also contributing 5. Contribution was also seen from Jada Moss (8 points, 6 rebound) and Courtney Freeman (9 points, 6 rebounds).

CNCC will face off tomorrow (02/02) against the Knights of North Platte CC at 1pm MT.
