RANGELY, Colo. (February 23, 2021) - The Colorado Northwestern Community College women's basketball team announced the resignation of Coach Steven Gilbert in a press release Tuesday.

Gilbert resigned from his role as the head coach of the Lady Spartans due to personal reasons. CNCC is currently 2-6 on the season. Eric Benedick, an assistant coach with the program, will coach the team for the remainder of the season.

"We appreciate the service of Coach Gilbert and what he brought to our program since coming to Colorado Northwestern," CNCC athletic director Candra Robie said. "We wish Coach Gilbert nothing but the best in his future endeavors."

CNCC will begin a search for the program's next head coach immediately.
