Box Score 3 RANGELY, Colo. (November 28, 2021) – The Colorado Northwestern Community College Women's Basketball team had a successful foray through the Thanksgiving holidays, going 2-1 during the unusual week.
CNCC posted a record of 2-1 in a trio of non-conference games during the week, opening with a 64-58 win at Central Wyoming on Wednesday. The Lady Spartans then opened the 'CSI Idaho Central Credit Union Classic' with a narrow 74-70 loss to Eastern Wyoming in overtime, followed up by a 65-63 win over Treasure Valley Community College.
Colorado Northwestern will open Scenic West Athletic Conference play on Thursday with a road game at Snow College.
Colorado Northwestern 64, Central Wyoming 58: A week of non-conference bouts ended with a strong win for the Lady Spartans.
CNCC earned a win at Central Wyoming, thanks to a suffocating defense that forced 26 CWC turnovers. Trailing entering the final period, Colorado Northwestern outscored Central Wyoming in the fourth quarter by an 18-9 margin to earn the win.
Aiesha Feagins finished with 20 points in the win, while
Khia Lee scored 13 points.
Rebecca Fraley scored 11 points, and
Courtnie West posted 7 points and 10 rebounds.
Eastern Wyoming 74, Colorado Northwestern 70: An overtime loss in the opener of a two-game tournament cost CNCC a perfect week.
A back-and-forth game ended with a thrilling overtime that saw Eastern Wyoming pull away late. Free throws made the difference for EWC, with Eastern Wyoming holding a 17-30 mark and CNCC going just 6-of-12 from the free-throw line.
Aiesha Feagins scored 20 points to lead Colorado Northwestern, while
Courtnie West had a total of 16 points in the loss.
Adelyn Wells and
Rebecca Fraley both scored 9 points.
Colorado Northwestern 65, Treasure Valley 63: A strong second quarter lifted the Lady Spartans to a late win.
CNCC held on for a win over Treasure Valley, thanks to a 16-7 edge in the second quarter that gave the Lady Spartans a 30-24 halftime lead.
Erin Mauro scored a game-high 19 points for Colorado Northwestern, while
Ashana Hinds powered to score 14 points. Both
Khia Lee and
Rebecca Fraley both finished with 10 points in the win. Lee had a double-double by also contributing 10 rebounds.
