Colorado Northwestern Community College Women's Basketball Team had the opportunity to listen to Devrinn Paul and Gabrielle Gibson-Paul, mentors of Coach
Steven Gilbert. The Pauls shared with the program that there are four characteristics that separate good players from great players: being coachable, positive environment, process and performance. The key message from Coach Paul was no matter the amount of talent your team possesses, if they lack any of these four areas you will fall short of your goal.
"I am pumped and ready to play right now. This is the type of message that I needed to hear to prepare me for the upcoming season. This is the best message I have heard so far, and I am super excited for our program and the direction that it is heading," said Ta'Nija Watson, transfer player from Independence Community College.
Later that week, the Spartans Women's Program spoke with college recruiter, Lakeria Crowder. Ms. Crowder had an awesome presentation for the players about their pathway towards destiny. The pathway had 11 key points that the players were asked to use in order to take a leap towards destiny; determination, perseverance, faith, work hard, don't settle, God 1
st, stay positive, motivation, stay humble and committed. The major point that Coach Crowder relayed to players was 'Why not you?"Â She explained that when struggling on your path to destiny, it's important to stop and ask yourself this question.
"This was a deep message for our women's program to hear. If we all stay committed and humble, we can accomplish so much this season. This is a process, and we are ready to all travel down the same path towards success," said Jamia Clark, transfer player from Independence Community College.
