RANGELY, Colo. (February 25, 2020) – The Colorado Northwestern Community College women's basketball team may have not had the finish it wanted to the 2019-20 regular season but with the postseason beckoning this week, the Lady Spartans have a chance to renew their energy.
Â
CNCC will open this weekend's Region 18 championships with a play-in game against Snow College, sitting as the No. 5 seed compared to Snow's No. 4 seed. Colorado Northwestern did not win a game in league play but the team still is looking forward to turning a page and resetting their season.
Â
Lady Spartans coach
Sherryl Klosterman said her team understands the challenges that are sitting in front of them with the postseason.
Â
"Going into post season play, my team is feeling confident," she said. "We have improved each week of conference play."
Â
CNCC played Snow in its final game of the season, falling 71-50. Snow downed Colorado Northwestern in all three of their games, earning double-digit wins in each game.
Â
Klosterman said her team likes the matchup with Snow, in spite of their inconsistent play against CNCC this season.
Â
"We are focused on pulling an upset and know we can do that with our opponent, Snow College," she said. "We played a strong game against Snow last Saturday and will build on that for this Thursday."
Â
Colorado Northwestern and Snow will play at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The winner of the game advances to a 12:00 p.m. game with top-seeded Salt Lake Community College on Friday.
