RANGELY, Colo. (February 20, 2020) – The final weekend of the regular season is here for the Colorado Northwestern Community College women's basketball team.
Â
The Lady Spartans will face off against Snow College in their final game of the regular season, closing out what has been a precariously tough regular season at home on 'Sophomore Day'. After a year that has featured a variety of adverse situations, CNCC is moving towards a strong finish heading into next week's Region 18 tournament.
Â
CNCC coach
Sherryl Klosterman said this week's game is critical as her team prepares for the postseason next week.
Â
"As we close out the regular season, I am proud of the improvements my team has made," she said. "Our improvement has been reflected in our record but we are not defined by that record."
Â
Snow College is 3-7 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play, coming off consecutive losses to Southern Idaho and to USU Eastern. Snow earned victories over CNCC in two previous games, first earning a win in Rangely before returning home for a win.
Â
Klosterman said the challenges presented by Snow are present when watching film to prepare.
Â
"Our play this week gives us momentum going into the Region 18 tournament," he said. "We have competed with every team and feel we can pull off an upset as there is no pressure on us. This time of the season also sets the expectations for our off-season workouts and starting to prepare for next year."
Â
Saturday's game against Snow College will start at 1:00 p.m. The game will be played inside Hefley Gym.
