RANGELY, Colo. (February 12, 2020) - For several weeks, the Colorado Northwestern Community College women's basketball team has been on the road in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. Thursday, the Lady Spartans finally return home.
CNCC will open a three-game homestand to end the regular season on Thursday, hosting the College of Southern Idaho. The Lady Spartans will host regional rival USU Eastern on Saturday. Only two weeks of league play remain until the conclusion of the regular season, with the Region 18 championships taking place from Feb. 27-29 in Twin Falls, Id.
Colorado Northwestern coach
Sherryl Klosterman said her program is excited to return home after the long road trip.
"We are looking forward to being back at Hefley Gym after four games on the road," she said. "We face Southern Idaho on Thursday and feel good about the matchup as we played pretty well up in Twin Falls a couple weeks ago. Keeping the game at our tempo will be key for us.
"On Saturday with USU Eastern, they are a good shooting team so we will need to know the shooters and contest shots. Winning the rebounding game will also be a focus point for us."
Southern Idaho defeated CNCC in its previous appearance in Rangely, downing the Lady Spartans by double-digits. USU Eastern had a similar result, earning double-digit victories both home-and-away. USU Eastern is currently in second place in the Scenic West standings, with a 1.5-game lead.Â
Thursday's game is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start with Southern Idaho. The game against USU Eastern on Saturday will begin at 1:00 p.m.
