CNCC Women's Basketball at home to face Southern Idaho Saturday

RANGELY, Colo. (January 9, 2020) - After a long time away, the Colorado Northwestern Community College women's basketball team will return home on Saturday for Scenic West Athletic Conference play.

The Lady Spartans will host the College of Southern Idaho on Saturday inside Hefley Gym, returning to the friendly confines of Rangely for the first time since November 25. CNCC opened SWAC play last weekend on the road in Utah, falling to Salt Lake Community College in the league opener.

CNCC coach Sherryl Klosterman said her program will need to recover from injuries while improving in several areas to fare well against the Golden Eagles.

"We are playing short-handed to start conference play as we have a few injuries in recovery stage," she said. "Looking at CSI this Saturday, we will need to control tempo and have smart shot selection."

Southern Idaho lost its league-opener last weekend to USU Eastern, falling 55-45 to the Eagles. CSI will play on Thursday against Salt Lake Community College, who is 1-0 in league play, before traveling to Colorado.

On a statistical note, CNCC's Danielle Russo is the fourth-ranked scorer in the Scenic West, averaging 12.6 points.

Colorado Northwestern will host Southern Idaho at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday inside Hefley Gym. The Lady Spartans will host Snow College the following week before traveling to Price, Utah, to play USU Eastern on January 18.
