CNCC Women's Basketball searches for Scenic West win in upcoming road doubleheader

RANGELY, Colo. (January 29, 2020) – The Colorado Northwestern Community College women's basketball team will return to the court this week for a pair of Scenic West Athletic Conference games.

The Lady Spartans will play two road games, traveling to face the College of Southern Idaho on Thursday and USU Eastern on Saturday. After a tough home loss on Saturday to Scenic West leader Salt Lake, CNCC is looking forward to returning to the court in search of improved results.

CNCC coach Sherryl Klosterman noted her team's energy in practices in spite of last week's loss to SLCC.

"This is a big week for us," she said. "We travel to CSI for a game on Thursday and then to USU Eastern on Saturday. We played pretty well here last Saturday against Salt Lake so are looking to build on that. Having Talia Afuvai back from concussion gives us a boost in the post and with our depth."

CSI and USU Eastern both defeated Colorado Northwestern earlier this season. Southern Idaho downed CNCC, 91-51, at home on January 11 and USU Eastern earned a 78-43 win in Price on Jan. 18.

Thursday's game against Southern Idaho will start at 5:00 p.m., while Saturday's game at USU Eastern is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. The Lady Spartans will return home on February 13 for a game against Southern Idaho.
