CNCC Women's Basketball returns to court for Air Force Prep tourney

RANGELY, Colo. (December 3, 2019) - The Colorado Northwestern Community College women's basketball team is returning to the hardwood after a well-deserved holiday break.

The Lady Spartans will travel to a tournament hosted by Air Force Prep this weekend after taking off some time over the Thanksgiving holiday. After a brutal stretch of preseason tournaments, featuring some of the top competition in the NJCAA, CNCC will play a pair of games against the Air Force Academy Prep School team and a club team from the Colorado Springs area.

CNCC coach Sherryl Klosterman said her team is excited to return to play after time off.

"We're looking forward to getting back on the court after having the Thanksgiving weekend off," she said. "We should be well-rested and looking to get some momentum this weekend at the Air Force Prep tournament."

The Lady Spartans are still searching for their first win and have had several opportunities to do so, falling just shy. In review of the team's beginning to the season, Klosterman said she saw several bright signs moving forward.

"We have been balanced in our scoring and we are looking to be more consistent on the defensive end," she said. "Ball control will be huge for us this weekend."

CNCC will play Air Force Prep at 2:00 p.m. on Friday and Colorado Springs Ballers Club at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Lady Spartans will play their final game before the annual holiday break on Dec. 13 on the road at Central Wyoming.
