RANGELY, Colo. (November 10, 2019) - The Colorado Northwestern Community College women's basketball team suffered a loss in a tourney finale in Arizona.
The Lady Spartans were downed by home-host Arizona Western College in the final game of their tournament, losing by a margin of 69-39. The loss drops Colorado Northwestern to 0-5 to open the season.
Arizona Western's defense held CNCC to just 12 points in the first half, opening up a large lead for AWC at halftime. CNCC shot just 23.4 percent in the game but held a 10-8 margin in second-chance points.
Courtney Freeman and
Samantha Farris led CNCC with 8 points apiece, with
Dani Russo finishing with 6 points. Farris also had 10 rebounds in the loss.
CNCC will host a game with Lamar Community College on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. The Lady Spartans will play a trio of games in a tournament hosted by Gillette Community College this weekend, starting with a Thursday game against Gillette at 5:00 p.m. CNCC will play Williston State on Friday and Dawson Community College on Saturday.Â
