RANGELY, Colo. (November 8, 2019) – The Colorado Northwestern Community College women's basketball team suffered a loss in a preseason tournament Friday.
 
The Lady Spartans were downed 71-58 by Chandler-Gilbert Community College in the opening round of the Arizona Western Desert Classic. The loss drops CNCC to 0-4 to open the 2019 season.

CNCC held a halftime lead of 36-27 after holding Chandler-Gilbert to just 29.6 percent shooting in the first half but suffered a tough third quarter offensively, getting outscored 23-6 by the home state opponent. The Lady Spartans shot just 32 percent from the floor in the second half, making just 2-of-8 three-point shots in the game compared to Chandler-Gilbert's 8-of-17 performance.

Audrey Jorgensen led Colorado Northwestern with 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Alyssa Civitak had 9 points in the loss. 
 
Colorado Northwestern will play host Arizona Western at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Lady Spartans will return home for a matchup with Lamar Community College on Tuesday.
