RANGELY, Colo. (October 31, 2019) - After a successful preseason, the Colorado Northwestern Community College women's basketball program will open the 2019-20 season on Friday in a preseason tournament.
The Lady Spartans will participate in a tournament hosted by Western Wyoming Community College, playing host Western Wyoming and Central Wyoming in the tournament. The tourney kicks off a 19-game preseason that will take CNCC around the Intermountain West.
CNCC coach
Sherryl Klosterman said she is excited for what is to come with her team in the opening weekend.
"I am excited to see us in actual game action," she said. "We open up with Western Wyoming; they are a young team with only 3 returning players. I think we match-up with them well. I look for our back court to set them tempo on both ends of the floor. On Saturday we face Central Wyoming, another young team with only 2 sophomores. They are quick and aggressive and will test our transition game."
Western Wyoming finished the 2018-19 season with a record of 5-24, while Central Wyoming finished at 10-20 overall last season. This will be the first of a pair of matchups that CNCC will have with Western Wyoming in the next week.
Friday's game against Western Wyoming is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start in Rock Springs, Wyo. The Lady Spartans will play Central Wyoming at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.Â
