Wrestling Wraps Up 2025-2026 Season

4/2/2026 1:37:00 PM

The 2025–2026 season marked another important step forward in the continued growth of the wrestling program. From the first day of preseason training to the final whistle of the year, our athletes committed themselves to improving every day in the practice room, the weight room, and the classroom.

Throughout the season, the team showed consistent development and resilience while competing against tough competition across the region. Our athletes battled through adversity, gained valuable experience, and continued to build the foundation for the future of the program.

One of the most meaningful milestones of the year came during the dual season when the team secured its first dual victory since the program was discontinued in the 1990s. The win represented a significant moment for the program and a reflection of the hard work and commitment put in by the athletes and coaching staff to rebuild wrestling at CNCC.

The postseason also brought major accomplishments for the program. Two wrestlers qualified for the NJCAA National Championships, as Tony Passetti and John Orr earned national tournament bids and represented CNCC on the national stage.
Tony put together an outstanding postseason run, placing 3rd at the regional tournament to qualify for nationals. At the NJCAA National Championships, Tony continued his strong performance and battled his way to the blood round, finishing one win away from earning All-American honors. His grit and determination throughout the season were a great example of the work ethic and competitiveness that defines the program.

John Orr also earned his spot at the NJCAA National Championships, marking another important milestone for both him and the program. Qualifying for the national tournament is a testament to the dedication and discipline required to compete at the highest level of junior college wrestling.

As a team, CNCC also made a strong statement at the national tournament. The program finished 2nd among Colorado junior colleges in the national team standings, finishing ahead of a couple of well-established programs in the region. The result highlights the rapid progress of the program and the competitive level the team reached throughout the season.

Beyond the results, the growth of the team as a whole was evident throughout the year. Several athletes made significant strides in their development, gaining experience against high-level competition and showing the potential to make major impacts in future seasons.

Just as importantly, our wrestlers continued to represent the program with pride off the mat. Their dedication to academics, training, and supporting one another is what truly defines the culture we are building.

As the season comes to a close, we are excited about the direction of the program and the opportunities ahead. The progress made this year lays a strong foundation as we continue to recruit, develop, and compete at a high level.

Thank you to everyone who supports our athletes and our program. We look forward to building on this momentum as we head into the offseason and prepare for another exciting year of wrestling.
