RANGELY, Colo. — Colorado Northwestern Community College Men's Wrestling reached a major milestone this past weekend as Tony Passetti officially qualified for the NJCAA National Wrestling Championships, becoming the first national qualifier since the program's return and doing so in the program's first season back.

Passetti earned his spot at nationals after an outstanding performance at the Region 18 (West) Regional Tournament, where he finished third overall and punched his ticket with two dominant victories in the consolation rounds.

In the consolation semifinals, Passetti showcased incredible resilience, battling back after trailing through the first two periods before securing a dramatic fall in the third period. He followed that performance with a commanding win in the consolation finals, controlling the match from start to finish and solidifying his place among the nation's best.

"Tony showed exactly what this program is about," said Head Coach Tytus Coombs. "His composure, toughness, and belief never wavered. To come back the way he did and qualify for nationals in our first year back is something really special. He's a legitimate dark horse heading into nationals."

Passetti's qualification represents a historic achievement for CNCC Wrestling and serves as a defining moment in the program's rebirth. In just its first season, the Spartans have already returned to the national stage — a testament to the hard work of the student-athletes and coaching staff.

Passetti will now prepare to compete at the NJCAA National Wrestling Championships in the coming weeks, carrying not only his own momentum but also the pride of a program that continues to build quickly and fearlessly.

From program return to national qualifier — Spartan Wrestling is officially back.
