RANGELY, Colo. – Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) is proud to announce the hiring of Marki Grant as the new Head Men's and Women's Cross-Country Coach. Coach Grant will officially begin her role on Monday, August 4, 2025.
Grant brings extensive experience in athlete development, endurance coaching, and leadership. She has coached track and field and cross-country at both the high school and middle school levels, including leading programs in Meeker, Colorado, and has worked as a private athletic development coach, mentoring student-athletes across multiple sports. Her training approach emphasizes form, conditioning, and mental preparedness, helping athletes reach their full potential on and off the course.
A former NCAA Division II student-athlete at Colorado State University–Pueblo, Grant competed in track and field and cross-country, giving her firsthand knowledge of the dedication and balance required to succeed at the collegiate level. Her coaching philosophy prioritizes character development, discipline, and resilience—qualities she believes lead to competitive success as a natural outcome.
"I am honored to join CNCC and lead the cross-country program," said Grant. "My goal is to build a culture where student-athletes grow as runners, teammates, and individuals. I want to help them achieve their athletic goals while preparing them for success in life beyond college."
CNCC Athletic Director Zach Stevenson expressed excitement about the hire. "Coach Grant is an incredible fit for CNCC," Stevenson said. "Her passion for mentoring student-athletes and her commitment to building a competitive and character-driven program will elevate our cross-country teams. We are thrilled to welcome her to the Spartan family."
CNCC looks forward to a new era of Spartan cross-country under Grant's leadership as the program continues to grow and develop in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
