Zach Stevenson is entering his third year as the Athletic Director at Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC), where he oversees all aspects of Spartan Athletics and continues to build the department’s competitive success, community presence, and student-athlete experience.
A Colorado native and proud CNCC alumnus, Stevenson played baseball for the Spartans from 2011–2013 before beginning a coaching and administrative career that has spanned high school and junior college. Prior to becoming CNCC’s AD in 2023, Stevenson served as an assistant baseball coach at the College of San Mateo in Northern California. During his tenure, the program posted a 60–39–1 record and hosted a Regional Playoff. Stevenson worked as the hitting and outfield coach, first base coach, and transfer coordinator, helping 40 student-athletes advance to four-year universities, including 19 who signed with Division I programs.
His coaching background also includes five years as a varsity assistant baseball coach at Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora, CO, where he helped guide the team to a 5A State Championship in 2016, and three seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at CNCC prior to entering full-time college coaching.
Stevenson earned his Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletics Administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2020, complementing his playing and coaching experience with a strong academic foundation in leadership and sports management.
Since stepping into the AD role, Stevenson has led numerous initiatives to grow Spartan Athletics, including facility improvements, new program launches, strategic partnerships, and student-athlete support systems. His leadership emphasizes hard work, accountability, and aligning athletics with the broader mission of the college.
Reflecting on his return to Rangely, Stevenson shares: “I personally know the potential of the Colorado Northwestern athletics programs. It’s a true honor to lead the department and work with the coaches, faculty, staff, and students who make CNCC what it is. Our goal is to compete hard, support our student-athletes, and help them reach their potential on the field, in the classroom, and in life.”
Stevenson and his wife, Chelsea, reside in Rangely with their three children, reconnecting with the community and investing in the future of Spartan Athletics.
