RANGELY, Colo. – The Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) volleyball team is ready to hit the court for the first time in 2025 as they travel to Gillette, Wyoming to compete in the Gillette College Labor Day Tournament this weekend.
The Spartans will play four matches across two days, beginning on Friday, August 29, against Dawson Community College and Williston State College. On Saturday, August 30, they will close out the tournament with contests against Miles Community College and Dakota College at Bottineau. All matches from the tournament will be streamed live on YouTube, giving fans the chance to tune in from anywhere.
A New Era of Spartan Volleyball
Head Coach Casey Quiggle, now in his second year at the helm, is working to build a new standard of competitiveness and culture within the program. This weekend will mark the first chance to see that vision in action.
The Spartans return a strong group of sophomores who bring leadership and valuable experience back to the court, including players like Faith Jensen and Kaylae Medina. Paired with an exciting freshman class, CNCC is building a foundation that emphasizes grit, teamwork, and consistent improvement.
"This is a group that's hungry to compete and prove themselves," said Quiggle. "The Labor Day Tournament is a great test for us early in the year. It'll show us what we do well, where we need to grow, and give our athletes the chance to get after it against quality opponents."
Looking Ahead
Following the Gillette Tournament, the Spartans will continue their preseason slate with additional tournaments before returning to Rangely for their SWAC home opener on September 26 against Utah State University Eastern as part of CNCC's Second Annual Homecoming Weekend.
