Spartans Battle Hard on Sophomore Day in Front of Energized Home Crowd

RANGELY, Colo. — The Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) volleyball team closed out its home schedule on Saturday afternoon with a spirited effort against North Idaho College in Hefley Arena, celebrating Sophomore Day in front of one of the largest and loudest crowds of the season.

Despite falling in straight sets (25–13, 25–22, 25–16), the Spartans gave an inspired performance that showcased their grit, teamwork, and determination. The second set was especially thrilling, as CNCC pushed North Idaho to the limit, rallying late behind the energy of the home fans before narrowly dropping the set 25–22.

Freshman Riley Hunt led the Spartans with seven kills, while Lexi Lebleu added eight kills and two blocks to pace the offense. Kaitlyn Cox tallied an impressive 20 assists and several key defensive plays, while Kaylae Medina anchored the back line with 20 digs. The team's effort and hustle drew multiple ovations from the packed Hefley Arena crowd.

Honoring the Sophomore Class

Before the match, CNCC recognized its three sophomores — Faith Jensen, Kaylae Medina, and Chloe Gronewoller — for their leadership, commitment, and contributions over the past two years. Each has played an integral role in helping shape the foundation of the Spartan volleyball program and has represented CNCC Athletics with class both on and off the court.

"These three young women have given their all to this program," said Head Coach Casey Quiggle. "Their character, work ethic, and heart have been examples for everyone around them. We're incredibly proud of who they are and grateful for what they've done for Spartan Volleyball."

Looking Ahead

While the results this season haven't always reflected their effort, the Spartans have continued to grow with every match, building a foundation for future success. CNCC will now turn its focus to the road as they wrap up Scenic West Athletic Conference play, carrying the same energy and fight that have defined their season.

Fans can continue to follow the Spartans throughout the remainder of the year, with all conference action streamed live on the Scenic West Network
