RANGELY, Colo. – The Colorado Northwestern Community College Men's Basketball team closed its 2024-25 campaign late last month, marking a second-straight, record-setting season for the Spartans.
History came in many forms for CNCC's men including new school records in multiple categories, thanks to the team's dedication, skill, and teamwork. Head Coach
Ben Cruickshank's squad broke their own program records for wins in a season, defensive field goal percentage, and defensive three-point field goal percentage. Other program records from the 2024-25 team included made three-pointers (281) and three-point percentage (35.5). The accomplishments provided testament to the hard work and focus on precision that the Spartans put in day-in and day-out.
Record-Breaking Statistics
The CNCC men finished the season ranked top-25 in all of NJCAA Division I in multiple categories:
- 3-pointers Made Per Game: 9.4 (23rd in the nation)
- 3-pointers Attempted Per Game: 26.4 (24th in the nation)
- Opponent Field-Goal Percentage: 39.8% (22nd in the nation)
In addition to impressive statistical benchmarks, Colorado Northwestern men's basketball claimed several marquee wins during the course of the season. Those included impressive victories over North Idaho and Salt Lake City Community College in Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) play. Those notable triumphs, along with 14 other wins propelled the Spartans to a historic 16-14 record. It marks the first time in program history that the CNCC men's basketball team has finished a season with a winning record.
"This was an amazing group of young men," said Coach Cruickshank. "They worked incredibly hard, and they deserve all the credit for the success of the team this year."
As Spartan fans, student-athletes, and supporters of all types reflect back on the 2024-25 season, it's clear the program has established a new standard of excellence. As evidenced by the accomplishments above, the future looks bright for Colorado Northwestern men's basketball and the bar has been raised for seasons to come.
