On Saturday, September 25, at Cedar Ridges Golf Course in Rangely, the CNCC baseball team will host their annual golf tournament to raise much-needed funds for their 2021-2022 season. The golf tournament also allows the CNCC baseball program to explore a continued friendship and ongoing relationship with Rangely's community and the past and present CNCC family. The proceeds generated from the golf tournament will help secure new fencing at the CNCC field to enclose and shield the field from the wind and other elements and also provide infield dirt and grass materials for general field maintenance.
Donning the golf course will be multiple signs at each hole with the sponsors who make the goals of the CNCC baseball team possible. The sponsors include Smoking River Brewing Company, The OP Bar N Grill, Health Works, Esenias Hair, and Nails, Way Out West Trading Company, Barely Spent Consignment, LOX Salon Candice Mathers, Kester Jewelry, Burns Livingston Corporation, Brass Key Realty, Parts City/McGuire Auto Parts, Backcountry Outpost, The Jungle Pet and Garden, Carelli's Pizzeria & Pasta, The Sizzling Pickle, Sun Drop Custom Framing, Dark Horse Discount Liquor, American Family Insurance, Furniture Connection Derek Cleverly, Precision Auto Service Incorporated, T-Mobile (Vernal, Utah), Restored Grace LLC, Sisters Liquor, Clarks, Betos (Vernal, Utah), Sherwin Williams (Vernal, Utah), Apricot Stitches (Vernal, Utah), California Wok Chinese Food (Rangely, Colorado), Blue Mountain Inn & Suites, Giovanni's Italian Restaurant, Harries Executive Business Center, Rangely Liquor, The Bent Nail Construction & Design, Country Living Realty LLC, Tamara Ostmark, Trees R US, 1rst Class Barbershop, The Cowboy Mercantile, Fireplace West, Mesa Jewelers, BPI Beckner Power Insurance Incoporated, Holman House Furniture, Urban Girls Salon, United Family Center of Colorado, Fyzical Therapy & Balance Centers, Crossfit Junction, River Valley Chiropractic, Ascension Fitness Studio, Taylor's Croft, Western Slope Iron & Supply, Robinson & Realty Company, Loadout Liquors, Adrock Concrete Incorporated, Napa (Rangely, Colorado), EZ Auto, Urie Rock, Urie Trucking, Yardley's Automotive, Colorado CPA Services, Knowles Enterprises Water Service, Professional Touch Auto and Towing, Beltran Insurance Consultants, and Rangely District Hospital. Following the CNCC Spartan baseball golf tournament on Saturday will be the Spartan's first home baseball game of the fall against the collegiate prep baseball team, the Rocky Mountain Oysters. The Spartans are bouncing back from the two losses handed to them by the Colorado University at Colorado Springs Lions on Friday, September 17. The Lions took game one 10-8 and followed that with a 14-4 win against the Spartans. Returner Tobi Armstrong commented on the two games, "We played good, but good doesn't win ball games." Head Coach McCollum followed up with, "we hit the ball well, but we did not execute defensively or pitch as well as we anticipated either." Overcoming these adversities and striving to get better every day is the mindset for this year's players. The Spartans will take this mentality to the field on Sunday, with the first pitch thrown at 10 am.
