Thursday was a long day for the Spartans falling to College of Southern Nevada 16-5. Colorado Northwestern got things moving in the first inning. The Spartans scored one run when
Nash Nickle singled in
Matt Wilde who doubled in the inning. College of Southern Nevada pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. After College of Southern Nevada scored three runs in the top of the seventh. The Spartans then answered when
Ryder Christensen doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs. Unfortunately for Colorado Northwestern, College of Southern Nevada scored seven runs in the eighth inning. Johnny Cuevas got the start for College of Southern Nevada. Cuevas allowed six hits and two runs over six innings, striking out ten and walking one.
Clifford Brown was on the hill for the Spartans. Brown allowed seven hits and six runs over five innings, striking out four and walking zero. Colorado Northwestern racked up ten hits on the day.
Pim Vijfvinkel and
Nash Nickle had multiple hits for the Spartans.
Pim Vijfvinkel led Colorado Northwestern with four hits in four at bats. College of Southern Nevada totaled 12 hits in the game. The Spartans will play a doubleheader against College of Southern Nevada on Friday beginning at 12:00pm.
