RANGELY, Colo. (February 7, 2021) - The Colorado Northwestern Community College softball team opened the 2021 season in a highly-competitive non-conference tournament last weekend, falling in four games.
Playing in a tournament hosted by Arizona Western College, CNCC went 0-4 against a variety of teams who are regionally and nationally competitive. The Lady Spartans lost a 13-3 decision to host Arizona Western to open the tournament, falling later in the day to Central Arizona by a similar score of 13-3. Action in the tournament's second day saw Eastern Arizona earn a 13-0 decision over CNCC, with Yavapai College earning a 25-0 run-rule win over the Lady Spartans to end the day.
Highlight performances from the tournament include 
Sam Farris hitting a two-run home run in the loss to Central Arizona, with Farris also going 2-of-3 in the loss to Eastern Arizona. 
Kellsie Ramos had a doulble in the loss to Yavapai.
Colorado Northwestern will play next on Feb. 19 in a weekend tournament hosted by the College of Southern Nevada.Â
