RANGELY, Colo. (February 20, 2021) - The Colorado Northwestern Community College softball team was swept in a doubleheader in a non-conference tournament Saturday.

The Lady Spartans, playing in a preseason tournament hosted by the College of Southern Nevada, faced a 39-8 defeat to the home Lady Coyotes and a 19-1 run-rule loss to the College of Southern Idaho. The losses drop CNCC to 0-8 on the day.

Colorado Northwestern will close the tournament with a pair of games against Southern Idaho and Salt Lake Community College on Sunday.

Southern Idaho 19, Colorado Northwestern 1: A fast start helped Southern Idaho to a strong win. 

CNCC scored its lone run in the fifth inning as Kat Williams scored on a passed ball. Maya Sharpnack went 2-of-3 at the plate.

Southern Nevada 39, Colorado Northwestern 8: CNCC took an early lead but was unable to hang on as host CSN lifted to a home win.
