RANGELY, Colo. (November 8, 2021) – The Colorado Northwestern Community College Men's Basketball program picked up its first victory of the 2021-22 season, splitting a pair of weekend games in a tournament in Idaho.
CNCC split a pair of weekend games in a College of Southern Idaho-hosted tournament, downing longtime regional rival Central Wyoming, 83-70, and falling to Lee College, 83-70. The mix sets the Spartans at 1-3 overall.
Colorado Northwestern will play this weekend, hosting Casper College Wednesday. CNCC will then travel for a tournament this weekend.
Colorado Northwestern 83, Central Wyoming 70: CNCC picked up its first win of the season in the final game of the CSI tournament, earning a win over longtime regional rival Central Wyoming.
CNCC took a 34-30 lead at halftime, trading leads back-and-forth with Central Wyoming in the second half. The Spartans took the lead late in the game, edging past Central Wyoming on a 22-of-28 performance at the free-throw line.
Rhaven Brown scored 16 points, while
Trevon Cason and
Jaden Stoffel also posted 13 points.
Kolton McMillan had 9 points.
Kok Daw had a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Lee 83, Colorado Northwestern 70: A halftime lead for the Spartans eroded into a loss for CNCC to Lee College.
Colorado Northwestern held a strong halftime lead, 39-33, before getting outscored 50-31 in the second half.
Trevon Cason had a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds,
Rhaven Brown scored 15 points, and
Jaden Stoffel posted 12 points.
