CNCC Volleyball prepares for rare 'three-match' week

RANGELY, Colo. (October 8, 2019) - It's hard enough to play two matches in a week but the Colorado Northwestern Community College volleyball team will do that challenge one better; the Lady Spartans will play a trio of matches over the next five nights.

Colorado Northwestern will play a non-conference match Tuesday against Western Wyoming Community College, followed up by Scenic West Athletic Conference matches against nationally-ranked Snow College and the College of Southern Nevada. Both Scenic West matches will be inside Hefley Gym in Rangely.

CNCC coach Ashley Bryant said the week ahead will provide a great challenge for her student-athletes.

"We are looking forward to this week and being able to raise funds that go towards breast cancer research," she said. "We are fine-tuning some skills that we have been working on and the feel in the gym every day is very positive. The girls are really looking forward to our three matches this week."

Snow College is one of the very best programs in the nation in the 2019 season, holding a current national ranking of No. 6. The Badgers opened the season on an eight-match winning streak, stretching their record to 22-2 overall and 3-0 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. Snow's only losses are to traditional powers New Mexico Junior College and Miami-Dade College.

CNCC should figure for a competitive match against Southern Nevada Saturday in the program's annual 'Kids Day' match. Like CNCC, CSN has yet to win a Scenic West match. The Lady Coyotes opened the 2019 season with a strong performance in a home-hosted tournament but have had recent struggles that have led to an eight-match losing streak.

Tuesday's game at Western Wyoming is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start in Rock Springs, Wyo. The Lady Spartans will return home for a 'Dig Pink' match against Snow College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. CNCC's Saturday match against Southern Nevada is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
