CNCC Volleyball to close regular season this weekend

RANGELY, Colo. (October 30, 2019) – The Colorado Northwestern Community College volleyball program will take to the road for its final weekend of the regular season.

CNCC will play at Southern Nevada and Snow College this weekend, closing the regular season before next weekend's Region 18 championships, which will also be held at Snow. The Lady Spartans are currently the league's No. 5 seed with a mark of 1-7 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.

Lady Spartans coach Ashley Bryant said her team is excited for the opportunity they have in front of them this weekend.

"The reality of the end of conference play and Region 18 conference tournament is setting in," she said. "We are looking to focus on enjoying our process and the hard work that has been put in up to this point."

The matches this weekend will give CNCC the chance to lock up the No. 5 seed in next week's Region 18 tournament. Colorado Northwestern's lone win in conference play came in a 3-1 win over Southern Nevada, giving the team a chance to relegate CSN to a No. 6 seed with another win in Las Vegas Thursday. CSN is winless in Scenic West play.

On the other hand, the Lady Spartans will close the regular season with the top team in the Scenic West and one of the top teams in all the NJCAA as they finish at Snow College. The Lady Badgers are a league-best 8-0 entering this week's matches, thanks to wins over Southern Idaho and nationally-ranked Salt Lake.

Thursday's match at Southern Nevada is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m., while Saturday's match at Snow is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. The Region 18 championships will begin next week in Ephraim.
