RANGELY, Colo. (October 2, 2019) - The Colorado Northwestern Community College volleyball team will host its Scenic West Athletic Conference home opener on Saturday.

The Spartans will host travel partner USU Eastern in a league duel on Saturday at home. Both teams will be coming into the matchup with mixed results last weekend, with CNCC entering the matchup after a sweep and USU Eastern entering after a split.

CNCC coach Ashley Bryant said her team is excited for the opportunity to play at home for the first time this season.

"This week we are looking to get back to honing in on our strengths in ball control and being defensively sound," she said. "Having played our entire preseason on the road, we are excited to get back on our home court playing for our awesome fans."

USU Eastern is 20-6 on the season and has been nationally-ranked in the NJCAA polls for most of this season. The Eagles opened Scenic West play with a 3-1 loss to Salt Lake Community College, followed up by a sweep of the College of Southern Idaho. USU Eastern has an 8-game winning streak and a 6-game winning streak during this season.

The Spartans will host USU Eastern this weekend inside Hefley Gym in the annual 'Red Out' match. The match is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. Colorado Northwestern will have a two-week home stand starting on October 10 against Snow College.
