CNCC Spartans Women's Soccer Welcomes Nine Exceptional Athletes for the 2024 Season

Rangely, CO — The Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) women's soccer program is thrilled to announce the signing of nine outstanding players, each committing to the Spartans by signing National Letters of Intent (LOIs) for the upcoming 2024 season. Head Coach Eldon Brough expressed his enthusiasm for the outstanding recruiting class, emphasizing the pivotal role these athletes will play in achieving the team's ambitious goals. Signing National Letters of Intent with the Spartans are Ashlee Harris, Avery Cardenas, Taygen Overall, Lilly Wittwer, Journey Toomey, Chloe Vowell, Maya Dalley, Millie Warner, and Maddy Remley.

Ashlee Harris is a midfielder from Snow Canyon High School in St. George, Utah. She is the daughter of Matt and Joleen Harris and is the 4th of 6 children. In high school, she was named Region MVP, all-State First Team, and one of 235 girls nationwide nominated for the All-American Team. During her junior year, she was part of the team that won a region title and made it all the way to the 4A state finals. She led Snow Canyon in scoring her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She finished her high school career with 46 goals and 25 assists. As a junior, she ran track and was a finalist in the state championship 100 m and 300 m hurdles, the 4x200 and the 4x400 relays. She received the Principal's Award for leadership, extracurricular, and academic achievement. She is the first chair second violin in the Snow Canyon High orchestra and is an honors student. 

Avery Cardenas is a defender and midfielder from Crimson Cliffs High School in Washington, Utah.  She is the daughter of Robert and Ashley Cardenas and is the oldest of 4 kids. She was a varsity starter at Crimson Cliffs for all 4 years of high school and was named to the all-region first team.  She was part of a regional championship team at Crimson Cliffs that made it all the way to the 4A state finals.  She has been on the honor roll for her entire time in high school.  

Taygen Overall is a defender from Desert Hills High School in St. George, Utah. She is the daughter of Trenton and Devri Overall and is the oldest of 4 kids. She was a varsity starter for Desert Hills in all 4 years of high school, won the defensive MVP award in her last 3 years, and won a region title her senior year. She was named to the all-region first team and all-state first team her junior and senior years and was named to the all-state second team her sophomore year.  She was also named to the All-American Team watch list. She has a 3.9 GPA and was named to the honor roll for all high school.  

Lilly Wittwer is a midfielder from Snow Canyon High School in St. George, Utah. She is the daughter of Marc and Andrea Wittwer and is the youngest of 5 kids. In her junior year, she was part of the team that won a regional championship and made it to the 4A state finals. She was a team captain at Snow Canyon while being named to the all-region and all-state teams on multiple occasions. She led the team in goals in her freshman year and in assists her junior year. She finished her high school career with 39 goals and 27 assists. She also ran track and took 2nd in state in the 300-meter hurdles. She has a 4.0 GPA, scored a 29 on her ACT, and was named academic all-state.  

Journey Toomey is a defender from North Sanpete High School in Mount Pleasant, Utah.  She is the daughter of David Toomey and Teasha and er Allen and is the oldest of 3 kids. She has started every game since her freshman year and won the best defensive player award for her high school. She is also on the track and wrestling teams at North Sanpete. In track, she won a team region championship, was named Outstanding Hurdler, broke the school record in the 4x100, was a state runner-up in the 4x400, and placed in state 6 times. In wrestling she won the team MVP and the Character & Leadership All-American Award and placed in state twice. She has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked #1 in her graduating class, while also being named Academic All State and being a member of the National Honors Society. She is SBO President and was class president for her freshman-junior years.  

Chloe Vowell is a midfielder from Snow Canyon High School in St. George, Utah. She is the daughter of Dianna Leavitt and Jason Vowell and is the 5th of 7 children. She was a team captain for the team at Snow Canyon that won a regional championship and made it all the way to the 4A state finals. She won multiple Player of the Game awards along the way and was selected to the all-region team. She has been on the honor roll for her entire time in high school and is also a student ambassador.  

Maya Dalley is a midfielder from Desert Hills High School in St. George, Utah. She is the daughter of Andy and Kourtney Dalley and is the 3rd of 7 kids. She played her first couple years of high school at Davis High School where they were back-to-back region champions and won the state championship in her freshman year. She was also part of the team that won the regional championship at Desert Hills in her senior year. She was named to the 4A All-State team in her junior and senior years. Her club team, Rebel Elite, placed first in the 2023 regional Presidents Cup in Boise, and second in the national Presidents Cup. In 2021 she placed top 8 in the statewide art workplace safety poster contest.  

Millie Warner is a midfielder from Snow Canyon High School in St. George, Utah.  She is the daughter of Aaron and Haley Warner and is the 3rd of 5 kids. She was a captain for her team at Snow Canyon, and as a junior was part of the team that won a regional championship and made it all the way to the 4A state finals. She had a super productive senior season, scoring 13 goals while having 6 assists, and winning Player of the Game on multiple occasions. She is a student ambassador at Snow Canyon and is also a representative for her soccer team with the Especially for Athletes program.  

Maddy Remley is a defender from Stansbury High School in Stansbury Park, Utah. She is the daughter of James and Jennifer Remley and is the oldest of 2 kids. She was a starting defender for her team at Stansbury which won the region title her junior year and made it all the way to the state semifinals as a senior. She is an honors student and has maintained a 3.8 GPA throughout high school. 

Coach Brough expressed his excitement, stating, "This is an absolutely outstanding recruiting class. We have lofty goals for 2024 as we look to build on the progress made in 2023, and this group will help make those goals possible. We are totally thrilled and couldn't be happier to welcome each of these ladies to the Spartan family!"
