RANGELY, Colo. (January 7, 2023) – Playing road games in the Scenic West Athletic Conference is never easy, especially when it requires playing some of the NJCAA's top teams.
The Colorado Northwestern Community College Men's Basketball team saw how true that statement was in a pair of Scenic West games this week, falling 106-53 at USU Eastern Wednesday and then 112-62 in a game at Southern Idaho Saturday. The Spartans are now 2-13 overall and 0-4 in Scenic West games.
Colorado Northwestern will play at Community Christian on January 12.
USU Eastern 106, Colorado Northwestern 53: CNCC struggled offensively early, falling thanks to a dominant defensive performance by USU Eastern.
The Spartans trailed 58-19 at halftime and never recovered in the loss.
Tommy Huynh posted 18 points, while
Khalfani Cason finished with 15 points.
Donovan Maestas finished with 10 points.
Southern Idaho 112, Colorado Northwestern 62: An early CNCC lead didn't hold up as the nationally ranked Golden Eagles went on to a strong win.
Khalfani Cason led the Spartans with 22 points, while
Knowledge Ruben scored 13 points.
Tommy Huynh posted 11 points.
