North Las Vegas, Nev. – The Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 4-2 road victory over College of Southern Nevada on Thursday night, picking up their second win of the young season.
The Spartans came out strong, striking early as Lilly Wittwer scored in the 11th minute off an assist from Amelia Warner. Just three minutes later, Ashlee Harris doubled the lead with a finish set up by Peyton Smith.
CSN responded with two goals from Leslie Villegas, including a penalty kick in the 41st minute, to send the game into halftime tied at 2-2.
CNCC regrouped at the break and quickly reclaimed control. Harris netted her second goal of the match in the 50th minute, assisted again by Warner, before Smith added a goal of her own in the 51st minute with help from Wittwer. The Spartan defense tightened up in the second half, limiting CSN's chances and securing the 4-2 victory.
In total, CNCC outshot CSN 18-15 and goalkeeper Jasmine Hernandez recorded six saves to preserve the win.
