CNCC Soccer Teams Fall to Snow College in Tough Conference Matchups

It was a challenging day for both the Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) men's and women's soccer teams as they faced off against Snow College on Saturday. The #19 ranked lady Spartans suffered their first loss of the season, falling 4-1 to the #12 ranked Snow College, while the men's team continued their search for a conference win, losing 2-0.

Women's Soccer: CNCC Suffers First Loss of the Season

The CNCC women's soccer team, ranked #19 nationally, entered Saturday's game with a perfect 6-0 record and 2-0 in Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) play. However, Snow College proved to be a formidable opponent, handing the Spartans their first defeat of the season with a 4-1 scoreline.

Snow College struck first in the 14th minute with a goal from Bailee Ballard, assisted by Liv Harding. CNCC responded quickly with a goal in the 21st minute by Lilly Wittwer, assisted by Ashlee Harris, tying the game at 1-1. Despite their strong start, the Spartans struggled to contain Snow's attack in the second half.

Snow regained the lead in the 66th minute with a goal from Emily Morrill, followed by goals from Liv Harding in the 69th minute and Ally Johnson in the 89th minute to seal the victory for Snow College.

CNCC goalkeeper Jasmine Hernandez once again showcased her skills, recording 12 saves to keep her team in the game, but Snow's relentless attack ultimately proved too much.

With the loss, CNCC falls to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play. The Spartans will look to bounce back in their next match as they continue their quest for a strong season.

Men's Soccer: Spartans Fall 2-0 to Snow College

The CNCC men's soccer team fought hard against Snow College but was unable to break through in a 2-0 loss. Snow took the lead in the 32nd minute with an unassisted goal by Max Mayer, and Jack Cook added a second goal early in the second half to secure the win for Snow.

CNCC goalkeeper Alejandro Jimenez had a busy day, making 8 saves to keep the Spartans in the game, but the offense was unable to capitalize on their chances.

The men's team continues to search for their first conference win of the season as they prepare for their upcoming matches.

Despite the setbacks, both CNCC soccer teams remain determined and focused on improving as they continue their conference schedules.

Look ahead:

Both CNCC soccer teams will look to bounce back next week with two important conference matchups. The Spartans will travel to play the College of Southern Idaho on Thursday, September 19, followed by another road test against Truckee Meadows Community College on Saturday, September 21. These games will be crucial as the Spartans aim to stay competitive in SWAC play and continue their strong starts to the season.

Go Spartans!
