CNCC Men's Soccer Earns First SWAC Victory with 2-1 Win Over College of Southern Idaho

The Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) men's soccer team notched their first Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) win of the season with a thrilling 2-1 victory over College of Southern Idaho (CSI) on Thursday. The victory marked a turning point for the Spartans, who fought hard to earn the win on the road.

The game started off with CSI taking the lead in the first minute when Amin Ahssain scored an unassisted goal to put the Golden Eagles up 1-0. Despite the early setback, the Spartans remained composed and began pressing for the equalizer. CNCC's persistence paid off in the 24th minute when Ryan Harcrow found the back of the net with a well-placed shot, leveling the score at 1-1.

The match remained tightly contested throughout the second half, with both teams creating chances. However, it was CNCC that broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute when Dax Wilkinson scored the game-winning goal, securing the 2-1 lead for the Spartans.

CNCC's goalkeepers Alejandro Jimenez and Sebastian Barreda combined for five saves, while the defense held strong against CSI's 19-shot effort.

Head Coach Justin Motzkus expressed his excitement after the match, saying, "The boys were absolutely fired up today. They've been working hard, and this win is a testament to their determination. We're looking to carry this momentum into our next game against Truckee Meadows and build on this success."

The Spartans will look to keep the momentum going when they take on Truckee Meadows Community College on Saturday, continuing their pursuit of more conference victories.

Go Spartans!
