RANGELY, Colo. (September 6, 2022) – The Colorado Northwestern Community College Athletic Department is facing a busy week.

Both CNCC Soccer programs will host Scenic West powerhouse Salt Lake Community College this weekend, with the Lady Spartans also traveling for a non-conference matchup with Western Wyoming. CNCC Rodeo will make its season debut in a rodeo hosted by Southern Utah University.

The CNCC Volleyball program will play a match at Western Wyoming Wednesday, looking to add a win after opening the season in a competitive loss. The growth for the Lady Spartans will be found in a strong team concept, according to CNCC coach Melissa Hardman.

"Our goal is to capitalize on our strengths, which is our defense and aggressive serving," she said. "We have worked on closing up our blocks and making sure we are covering on offense and defense.

"We have a positive mindset. Everyone makes mistakes; it is what you do after that mistake that matters most. Our players must recognize, ask questions if needed, correct errors, and then move on. We also talk about having a short memory when it comes to volleyball, because there is always another ball that is coming and we need to focus back in on what's next."
