RANGELY, Colo. (March 18, 2022) - The Colorado Northwestern Community College Softball team was swept in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader on Friday.
Playing at USU Eastern, the Lady Spartans lost run-rule decisions of 10-2 and 11-3. The losses drop CNCC to 0-20 overall and 0-10 in Scenic West play.
Colorado Northwestern and USU Eastern will play another doubleheader on Saturday.
USU Eastern 10, Colorado Northwestern 2: A home run highlighted CNCC's performance in the day's first game.
Jazmyn Gilliam hit a solo home run in the fourth inning, followed up by
Mya Murdock hitting an RBI single in the fifth inning. Mykenna Rolfe was 2-of-2 in the game to lead the Lady Spartans.Â
USU Eastern 11, Colorado Northwestern 3: An early CNCC lead didn't hold up in a run-rule loss.
Colorado Northwestern jumped out to a 3-0 in the top of the first inning, with
Keely Porter hitting a two-run single and
Makila Vi then hitting an RBI single. However, USU Eastern scored 11 unanswered runs from there, ending the game after the fifth inning.
Porter was 1-of-3 with a pair of RBI's in the loss.Â
