RANGELY, Colo. (February 5, 2021) - The Colorado Northwestern Community College men's basketball team picked up its first victory of the season Friday, earning a win in a non-conference tournament.
Playing in a tournament hosted by the College of Southern Idaho, the Spartans picked up a 105-72 win over Community Christian College. CNCC jumped out to a big first-half lead, powering through to the win that boosts their overall record to 1-2 on the young season.
CNCCÂ got out to a 55-33 halftime lead, shooting 55.8 percent from the floor and making 6-of-14 three-point shots in the half. The Spartans continued to build momentum in the game, thanks to strong play in the post. Colorado Northwestern outscored CCC 48-26 in the paint, with
Azarien Stephens leading all scorers with 31 points.
Other notable CNCC scorers include
Sam Orton (16 points),
Seena Namdar (14 points), and
Rhaven Brown (13 points). The Spartans led by as many as 40 points in the game.
Colorado Northwestern will play Southern Idaho in a non-conference game on Saturday.Â
