Tytus Coombs

Tytus Coombs joins Colorado Northwestern Community College in December 2024 as the Head Men’s Wrestling Coach, bringing a deep passion for the sport and a commitment to developing resilient, well-rounded student-athletes. A Rangely, Colorado native, Coombs excelled as a multi-sport athlete in high school, competing in football, wrestling, track, and baseball. During his prep career, he earned All-State honors in football and placed 4th in the state as a senior wrestler.

Continuing his wrestling journey at CSU-Pueblo (NCAA Division II), Coombs was a two-time starter for the Thunderwolves and a three-time NWCA Academic All-American. He graduated with a degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Strength and Conditioning, a foundation he has since built upon to help athletes achieve their potential. Overcoming multiple season-ending injuries during his career, Coombs credits his faith and the motto "control what you can control" as key drivers of his perseverance and success.

After earning his degree, Coombs achieved certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and founded his own strength and conditioning business, where he works with clients of all ages to help them reach their goals. Staying connected to wrestling, he designed and coached offseason and postseason strength and conditioning programs for CSU-Pueblo wrestlers, helping prepare them for competitive seasons.

As the first head coach of CNCC’s new men’s wrestling program, set to launch in Fall 2025, Coombs views this role as a special opportunity to blend his experiences as a wrestler, coach, and mentor. Guided by his faith, dedication to family, and passion for athletics, he is determined to build a program rooted in resilience, discipline, and success on and off the mat.
