Hailing from eastern Oregon, Coach Toombs brings a deep passion for running and a strong commitment to developing collegiate student-athletes both on and off the field.

Before joining CNCC, Coach Toombs built an impressive academic career, serving as a faculty member in history, political science, and public administration at several institutions, including Muskingum University (OH), Southern Oregon University, University of Texas Permian Basin, Pittsburg State University, Idaho State University, and Odessa College. His background in higher education reflects his dedication to fostering academic success among his athletes.

A former college athlete himself, Coach Toombs competed in cross-country and track & field at Treasure Valley Community College (OR) and has continued his involvement in running through various running clubs. His coaching philosophy emphasizes academics, community service, teamwork, and building a winning culture.

As Coach Toombs begins his journey at CNCC, he is excited about the opportunity to shape the new men’s and women’s cross-country programs. In his own words, “CNCC offers an ideal environment for students to excel both academically and athletically. I am excited for the opportunity to build the men’s and women’s XC programs and contribute to the new era of Spartan Cross Country.”
