Spartan Volleyball Energizes Packed Homecoming Crowds

RANGELY, Colo. – The Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) volleyball team put on a spirited display during Homecoming weekend inside Hefley Arena, taking on Utah State University Eastern on Friday and Snow College on Saturday. Despite falling in both matches, the Spartans showcased tremendous energy, grit, and improvement that left the CNCC and Rangely community proud.

Friday Night vs. Utah State Eastern

The Spartans battled hard against the nationally ranked No. 7 USU Eastern Eagles but dropped the match in three sets (25-15, 25-12, 25-7). Sophomore Riley Hunt led the offense with four kills, while Lexi Lebleu and Daynna Anderson added key points at the net. Defensively, Kaitlyn Cox anchored the back row with 10 digs, as the Spartans fought through long rallies in front of an electric Homecoming crowd.

Saturday Afternoon vs. Snow College

On Saturday, CNCC returned to the court against Snow College, again playing with heart and determination despite falling 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-15). Hunt once again paced the Spartans with seven kills, while Lebleu contributed four kills and freshman Rylyn Jacobs and Chloe Gronewoller provided defensive support at the net. The Spartans fed off the loud and passionate home crowd, who packed Hefley Arena for the second day in a row.

Community and Program Growth

The atmosphere was nothing short of electric, as the Rangely and CNCC community came out in full force to support Spartan Volleyball. The players fed off that energy, leaving it all on the court against two of the Scenic West's toughest programs.

Head Coach Casey Quiggle praised his team's fight and the community's support: "Our players showed incredible grit this weekend. The scoreboard doesn't reflect the effort and heart they displayed. With the energy our fans brought, it truly felt like a special Homecoming experience."

Looking Ahead

The Spartans will be back in action on Thursday, October 2, when they travel to face College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls. The match will serve as another opportunity for CNCC to continue developing and showcasing the potential of a young and hungry roster.

Go Spartans!
