Historic Day for CNCC Soccer: Women Clinch Postseason Berth, Men Set Program Records

RANGELY, Colo.  — The Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) soccer programs made history Thursday afternoon at the Bud Striegel Family Soccer Field, combining for an unforgettable day of Spartan dominance.

The women's team continued their stellar season with an emphatic 8–0 shutout victory over Pacific Northwest Christian College (PNWCC), clinching their second consecutive Scenic West Athletic Conference postseason berth — a remarkable achievement for Head Coach Eldon Brough and his program.

CNCC came out firing on all cylinders, building a commanding first-half lead and never looking back. Amelia Warner led the way offensively with a pair of goals, while Ashlee Harris, Lilly Wittwer, and Hali'a Pelton each added to the scoring barrage. The Spartans' defense, anchored by goalkeeper Jasmine Hernandez, recorded yet another clean sheet, marking the team's fifth shutout of the season.

"This is such a proud moment for our players and our college," said Coach Brough. "To clinch back-to-back postseason berths shows how hard this group has worked. Their belief in each other and commitment to the process has been special."

The Spartans will now turn their focus to Sophomore Day this Saturday, October 25, when they host North Idaho College in their final regular-season match before traveling for the SWAC Region Tournament, beginning October 30.

On the men's side, the CNCC Spartans put together one of the most dominant performances in program history, defeating PNWCC 7–1 in front of an energetic home crowd.

The victory marked a historic day for CNCC Men's Soccer, as the team set program records for most goals in a single game and most goals scored by an individual player. Sophomore Ryan Orr was unstoppable, netting four goals to lead the Spartans' offensive explosion, while Jordan Nunez-Alley, Tyson Sharp, and Layne Fabrizi also added goals in the win.

"This was a statement performance for our guys," said Head Coach Justin Motzkus. "They've continued to grow every week, and today it all came together. We didn't just play hard — we played confident and connected soccer."

Although the men missed out on postseason qualification, their progress throughout the season has been undeniable. The Spartans have battled competitively in nearly every match, laying a strong foundation for the future of the program.

Both the men's and women's teams will wrap up regular-season play on Saturday, October 25, when they celebrate Sophomore Day at the Bud Striegel Family Soccer Field, facing North Idaho College in what promises to be another exciting afternoon of CNCC Soccer.

Spartans fans can catch the action in person or via the Scenic West Network.
