Colorado Northwestern Community College's (CNCC) women's soccer standout Amelia Warner has been named the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) Player of the Week after her outstanding performances in the opening week of the 2024 season.
Warner played a pivotal role in CNCC's strong start, contributing both offensively and defensively in two dominant victories. In the Spartans' 7-1 win against Northeastern Junior College on Thursday, August 22, Warner tallied a goal and an assist, helping her team secure the decisive victory. She followed that up with an exceptional performance on Saturday, August 24, dishing out 4 assists in CNCC's commanding 5-0 win over Lamar Community College.
Her contributions over the two-game stretch were vital to the Spartans' early success, showcasing her playmaking abilities and leadership on the field.
"Amelia's vision and ability to create opportunities for her teammates were on full display this week," said Head Coach Eldon Brough. "She's a player who makes everyone around her better, and this recognition is well-deserved."
This is the first time Warner has been honored as the SWAC Player of the Week, but with her strong start to the season, it's clear she will continue to be a key player for CNCC moving forward.
Congratulations to Amelia Warner on this well-deserved recognition! The Spartans will continue to build on their momentum as they head into the next week of competition.
Go Spartans!
