The Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) men's soccer team closed out their home season in style, securing a 3-0 victory over Truckee Meadows Community College at Bud Striegel Family Soccer Field on Saturday. The win moves the Spartans to 4-11-1 overall and 3-9 in Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) play.
The atmosphere at Bud Striegel Family Soccer Field was electric as the Spartans gave their home crowd plenty to cheer about in their final home game of the season. CNCC struck first in the 37th minute when Dillon Bingham scored off an assist from JT Orr, giving the Spartans a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
The Spartans carried their momentum into the second half, with Rodney Meena doubling the lead in the 80th minute, assisted by Bingham. Just minutes later, Isiah Ben sealed the win with an unassisted goal in the 88th minute, making it 3-0.
Goalkeepers Alejandro Jimenez and Sebastian Barreda were stellar between the posts, recording five saves to keep Truckee Meadows off the scoreboard and secure the shutout.
Head Coach Justin Motzkus praised his team's effort after the match, stating, "The boys were fired up and played with a lot of heart today. It was a great way to end our home season, and we're looking to carry this momentum into our final games. We couldn't have asked for a better performance to close out our first season on the new field."
With the victory, CNCC wraps up their home schedule and looks forward to finishing their season strong on the road next week against North Idaho College and Pacific Northwest Christian College.
