The Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) women's soccer team got on the winning path with an impressive 3-0 victory over Utah State University Eastern (USUE) on Thursday. The Spartans improved their conference record to 4-3-2, thanks to a second-half surge that secured the shutout win.
After a scoreless first half, CNCC's offense came alive in the second half. Allee Williams opened the scoring in the 67th minute, assisted by Amelia Warner. Less than 10 minutes later, Warner added a goal of her own in the 77th minute with an unassisted effort, giving the Spartans a 2-0 lead.
The final blow came in the 81st minute when Avery Cardenas netted a goal, assisted by Williams, sealing the 3-0 victory for the Spartans.
Goalkeeper Jasmine Hernandez, a standout performer all season, made five saves to record another clean sheet, shutting down a USUE attack that registered 17 shots.
With this win, CNCC improves to 8-3-2 on the season and 4-3-2 in Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) play. The Spartans will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup against No. 10 Snow College in Ephraim, UT on Oct. 12th at 11:00 a.m.
Go Spartans!
