RANGELY, Colo. (February 5, 2022) – A Scenic West Athletic Conference road game ended in a loss for the Colorado Northwestern Community College Men's Basketball team Saturday.
CNCC fell in a 74-67 decision to the College of Southern Nevada, falling to 0-3 against the Coyotes on the season. The Spartans are now 5-16 overall with the loss, alongside a mark of 3-11 in Scenic West play.
Both CNCC and CSN were tied at halftime, 33-33, with the Spartans playing outstanding defense throughout the game by holding the Coyotes to just 35.6 percent shooting. Southern Nevada took control of the game in the paint though, holding a 32-20 edge in points-in-the-paint and a decided free-throw advantage.
Dom Rivas finished with 20 points to lead the Spartans, while
Noah Valdez and
Tommy Huynh both posted 10 points each.
Korey Billy scored 9 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
Colorado Northwestern will return for an extended homestand inside Hefley Gym next week, beginning with a matchup against Snow College on Thursday. The Spartans will host Southern Idaho on Saturday.
