RANGELY, Colo. (February 15, 2022) – There is no better way to celebrate 'Sophomore Night' than with a victory.
The Colorado Northwestern Community College Men's Basketball team got to experience that feeling Tuesday, thanks to an impressive 84-72 win over USU Eastern inside Hefley Gym. The victory lifts the Spartans to 6-18 overall and 4-13 in Scenic West games.
CNCC played on well on defense throughout the game, taking a 36-27 lead at halftime after limiting USU Eastern to just 29 percent shooting (9-of-31) in the first half. The Spartans then caught fire offensively in the second half, shooting 51.7 percent and leading by as many as 21 points midway through the period. CNCC was also physical through the second half, a fact that was proved through their opportunities at the free-throw line (14-of=18).
In a balanced scoring attack,
Nahsyah Bolar led the Spartans with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while
Trevon Cason scored 13 points.
Dom Rivas finished with 12 points, and
Jaden Landes posted 10 points.
CNCC finished with a record of 2-1 against USU Eastern throughout the season.
Colorado Northwestern will play the final game of the regular season Saturday, traveling to play at No. 1 Salt Lake.
