RANGELY, Colo. (November 19, 2022) – The Colorado Northwestern Community College Men's Basketball team posted its first victory of the 2022-23 season at home Saturday.
CNCC earned a 78-76 win over RSL Academy, building a strong halftime lead and then holding on late for the victory. The Spartans are now 1-5 overall.
Colorado Northwestern jumped out to a large halftime lead, taking a 41-29 lead into intermission after limiting RSL Academy to just 3-of-14 shooting from three-point range. The Spartans led by as many as 17 points in the first half, with the tables turning in the second half as RSL cut the lead down consistently until the final seconds when time simply ran out.
Tommy Huynh scored 18 points to lead CNCC, while Pablo Torres had 15 points. Other high scorers included Donovan Maestas, who scored 14 points, and Khalfani Cason's 13 points.
Colorado Northwestern will next play on Tuesday at home against Western Wyoming Community College.
