RANGELY, Colo. (February 28, 2021) – The Colorado Northwestern Community College women's basketball team finished off a clean sweep of a Scenic West Athletic Conference series Sunday.
The Lady Spartans downed visiting Southern Nevada, 97-61, to finish of the sweep of the pair's Saturday-Sunday back-to-back. The matinee victory boosts CNCC to 4-7 and 2-5 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
CNCC jumped out to a 25-9 lead after the first quarter, taking a 43-33 lead into halftime. Consistent defense paid dividends for the Lady Spartans as they forced 26 Southern Nevada turnovers, leading to 36 points for CNCC. Additionally, Colorado Northwestern scored 49 bench points against the Lady Coyotes. CNCC led by as many as 39 points in the win.
Aiesha Feagins led Colorado Northwestern with 18 points, while
Courtney Freeman posted 15 points.
Cameron Tsosie had 12 points for CNCC, and
Samantha Moon and
Erin Mauro both scored 11 points apiece.
Colorado Northwestern will open a new week of Scenic West games Wednesday at Salt Lake Community College.
