RANGELY, Colo. (December 9, 2021) - The Colorado Northwestern Community College Men's Basketball team earned a nail-biting win Thursday, downing a Scenic West Athletic Conference rival late.
CNCC picked up a narrow 84-81 victory over the Community Christian, powering to a halftime lead and then holding on late to the win. The Spartans are now 3-7 with the win, holding a mark of 1-2 in Scenic West Athletic Conference games.
Colorado Northwestern jumped out to a 41-33 halftime lead, prior to Community Christian cutting the deficit to a single point, 82-81, late in the game. With just three seconds remaining, CCC's Dionte Hill missed a game-tying free-throw attempt, allowing Nahsyah Boler to gain the rebound and close the game with a pair of critical foul shots.Â
Defense played a large part in the Spartans' victory, with CNCC forcing 25 turnovers. Free-throw shooting also proved to be critical as Community Christian went just 10-of-18 from the free-throw line.
Jaden Landes finished with 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting to lead CNCC, while
Trevon Cason posted 15 points. Boler finished by scoring 14 points.
Colorado Northwestern will host the College of Southern Idaho on Saturday. The game will tip at 3:00 p.m. inside Hefley Gym.Â
